Dave enjoys helping to make wedding music special for couples. He has provided music at over 250 weddings throughout the US and Europe . He can provide any type of music at the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. This includes live music (band or solo) or acting as a DJ. He has pioneered the use of a “loop” machine at weddings so that he can play solo and make it sound like you have hired an entire orchestra to play.
The difference between Dave and other musicians is his ability to customize the music to fit the bride and groom’s tastes. He can play traditional wedding music or help pick something unique. For example, one of his couples chose to play U2’s “It’s a Beautiful Day” for their recessional. There are no rules. If you have a special song, Dave can play it.
Dave,
My name is Melissa Urban, and I am getting married on July 28th of this year. I was planning on walking down the aisle to Dave Matthews, and came across your YouTube performance of #41. As if I wasn't already emotional enough during this last month of wedding planning, your performance brought tears to my eyes. Literally. At work, no less.
I would love to get an audio version of that recording, and use it in my processional. I know you are for hire for these types of performances, so if you would be willing to provide an audio file (mp3), please let me know how much you would want to be compensated. Your performance is absolutely beautiful, and I would love nothing more than to be married with this in the background.
Sincerely, Melissa Urban Manchester, NH

Dave handled all the music for our wedding. It was absolutely perfect, fitting both my taste in classical and how it was orchestrated with the ceremony! With everything else to plan in a wedding it was wonderful to hand the music off to Dave knowing it would be done perfectly. If you can get him, you'll be extremely happy!

Before I got married I attended two other weddings Dave played at and was amazed with Dave's musical talent. He could play all the great wedding songs, like "Pachelbel Canon", so beautifully. And...not only is he a great musician, he really knows how to play a wedding. There's much more to playing a wedding than just cranking out a tune. EVERYTHING has to be just right - the volume, the timing, and the music itself. Dave has it all down to a science. You know when Dave plays your wedding, that's one less thing you will have to worry about. There is one thing though, that really sets Dave apart from all other wedding musicians. When we asked him to do our wedding, my fiance and I spent some time with Dave thinking about the music we wanted him to play. It was then that we realized we wanted something really different and unique. So, I asked Dave to start playing something "cool" on his violin, and sure enough, out came a beautiful piece I'd never heard before. So, I asked Dave, "What was that?" Dave answered, "Well, I just made it up." And that was the piece that he played during our ceremony. On our ceremony program it read "Dave Kim Opus 1." Everyone commented on how beautiful it was. And it was the first time that song was ever played at a wedding - just what I wanted. That's what makes Dave Kim so special.

We loved Dave's music! He is a very talented musician and we were so lucky to have him play. It was hard to choose which songs for him to play because they were all amazing. He also customized our wedding music to include a non wedding style tune, Ants go Marching, by Dave Matthews for our walk as husband and wife down the aisle. He also coordinated all of our music from the live violin playing to the dinner music and even the dancing. It was truly a night to remember and the music always plays an important part to making it great. I was originally nervous about not having a DJ, but Dave did everything and the evening was flawless...awesome job Dave!

Dave is a man of many musical talents and he's fluent in several instruments. Emily and I had heard him play the violin, guitar, piano and keyboard many times before, so we asked if he'd be willing to play at our wedding. To our gratefulness, he accepted and the music and worship songs at our wedding were something we will never forget. Thank you, Dave!

Dave Kim saved our wedding! All we asked him to do was play Violin during the processional, That's it! However, not only did he do that but he also: brought his entire PA system so it sounded good; accompanied our singer on violin to make it sound outstanding; he then moved his entire PA to our reception so that we could use it there as well. Dave went way out of his way to make sure our day was special. Dave personally saved me a lot of grief.

Dear Dave,
You managed to make the music for our entire wedding weekend truly "Carefree". From your impromptu jam session at the party Saturday night to the ceremony itself and the hors d’ oeuvres hour that followed, you were ubiquitous, subtle, humble and breathtaking all at once. We'll never forget your 4-in-1 symphony.
Sincerely,
Tom & Jen Kindle, The Boulders Resort, Carefree, AZ
We were looking for a balance between traditional wedding music and a contemporary sound that would be unique and memorable. Dave delivered just what we asked for. Dave's humility and desire to tailor the music to our specific request was very appreciated and executed flawlessly.

We were so pleased with how precise Dave was with the music and how he listened to our ideas. When we weren't sure which direction we wanted to go, he knew exactly what suggestions to make. When he came over to our house and did a demonstration for us of what some of the music would sound like, we knew that we absolutely wanted him to play in our wedding. We were blessed to have such a talented musician make our wedding day special.

Dave showed up in a tux and was all class. From his impromptu prelude, through Pachelbel's Canon and on to the end his playing was impressive. Many of our guests remarked on the violinist. We have a CD of his playing at our wedding and still listen to it regularly. We'd recommend him to anyone. Jon and Mehridith Venverloh, San Francisco, CA
Dave Kim was a joy to have as part of our special day. We chose to be married in a unique, wilderness setting, so our music had to be simple yet elegant. Dave played beautiful songs on the violin for our entrance and exit, but what impressed us most was his willingness to learn a "personal favorite" to include in our ceremony. Dave learned the chords and words to perform our song, "Beloved One" by Ben Harper on his guitar. We were impressed with his talent, flexibility, and professionalism, both in the planning stages and during our wedding. Brandon & Larissa Thompson, Mammoth, CA
I have worked with Dave Kim in a number of capacities at weddings over the last several years, including both as a fellow musician and as one who officiates weddings in which Dave is often involved playing. Dave is absolutely first class, both in terms of his musicianship, which is extraordinary, and his sense of appropriate music selection and arrangement. He is very gifted in many areas and would be a blessing to anyone who is preparing their wedding ceremony and reception. I recommend him without hesitation. He would be one of the first people I would have any prospective couple call.

Dave rocks! The location was St. Tropez in the South of France, and Dave's music echoed off the stone walls through the vineyards. I just remember setting up the tables around the pool whilst Dave played some different tunes for me to choose. They were all amazing so I told him to do his thing! As he definitely knows best! He went from Classical masterpieces throughout our ceremony to a full on dancin' party with Chris Clouse into the early hours of the morning! We couldn't have asked for more. Thank You
